I feel my self-esteem was particularly low and I didn’t have a lot of confidence. That might have been because I spent a lot of my time avoiding things. Avoiding people. Talking behind my hand. Trying to make it look natural that I was talking behind my hand. You know, like, ‘Everyone does this. Didn’t you know?’ I would avoid certain foods, like foods that had skins, like apples. Foods that were hard, like crusts on bread rolls. Life before my dentures, I was affected emotionally, physically, there was a lot of pain, a kind of like throbbing in my bones, the bones in my jaw, and behaviours. I did a lot of avoidance behaviours. It wasn’t such a good thing, but now I don’t need to do that.
